WC 29.1.24

 WC - 8.1.24

This week the children have been investigating length.

They had to make ramps to see which vehicle had travelled the furthest and decide how to measure and record their findings.

WC 25.9.23

We have been enjoying all things Lowry these last couple of weeks. The children have used viewfinders to find their favourite parts of the pictures and enlarged them. This week they have added colour using oil pastels and watercolours.

We have had a busy week this week! First we did our Science experiment. We wanted to see if solids could change to liquids. We tested this by having a range of solids and heating them up. We found out that some of them had melting points and therefore changed state and the others stayed as a solid. Squirrels loved this!

We also looked into our new RE topic of Judaism. We had a look in atlases to find Israel and then we learnt about how Judaism began.

W/C 28th March 2022

At the start of the week we looked at the map of the world, using an atlas to locate countries that support Fairtrade. It has been great that the children have been looking out for the Fairtrade logo on their food packaging too.

In Maths this week, we have been practising our skills in Multiplication and Division.

We were lucky enough to be able to join another draw along with the author of the Tom Gates books.

In RE we were thinking about the Easter story. We sequenced the events in a comic strip, then some of us shared this work in the church service on Thursday.

A fun filled time for our last day!

W/C 21st March 2022

In Maths this week we have been revisiting addition and subtraction to ensure we are confident in completing these calculations. We have enjoyed playing a place value game and been working on our times tables too.

Our PE medal winners this week, congratulations!

In DT we designed lighthouse pictures. Then with a partner we created lighthouse pictures and were able to light up the lighthouse!

Here are the PE medal winners from the last two weeks!

A few pictures from PE last week.

We have continued to read the story of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory together.

At the beginning of the week the children discussed their favourite chocolate bars! They then chose adjectives to describe it and used them in a description of their chocolate choice!

In Music this week, we worked in pairs to research information about the famous composer Mozart. Later on in the week we used the information found to create a fact file.

We enjoyed shared reading with our friends in Badgers.

The highlight of our week was joining for a virtual session with the presenter and author Dermot O'Leary!

He talked about his writing and his Toto the Ninja Cat series of books. The children also had a chance to take part in a draw along with the book's illustrator Nick East. They were thrilled to receive a copy of his latest book at the end of the session!

W/C 7th March 2022

We started the week by getting thank you letters written and typed up to the Harwich Society.

We have been busy practising this week's spellings, some of us had Phonics practise and a group of us worked on our dictionary skills too.

In DT (Design and Technology) we experimented making paper circuits making electrical connections using LEDs, switches, batteries and copper tape.

Our trip to Harwich!

This week's PE medal winners, well done!

World Book Day Fun!

W/C 21st February 2022

Well done Squirrel Class, a great start back to the new half term.

We have enjoyed finishing our class reader this week - George's Marvellous Medicine. The children did an amazing job at retelling the story in their own words. They were very pleased with their efforts. We also looked some of the different book covers used for the story, and then designed our own.

We worked hard on our new set of spellings this week!

In Music this week, the children had fun working on body percussion.
